Meet our SNCF Co-op Scholars who are on the road to being leaders for a social mission. The SNCF Co-op Scholarship is an undergraduate degree scholarship that supports talented, high-calibre students with a heart for the people. Our scholars have the courage to strive for academic excellence and to make the difference to society through the co-operative movement, a proven model of self-help in Singapore since 1925.
From 2010 to 2011, the SNCF Co-operative Scholarship saw an increase of 250% in the number of applicants. The caliber of the candidates in terms of not just grades but also level of community service were also seen at a never before level. It is indeed heartening to know that youths of today not only excel in their studies, but also have a strong commitment and the heart to serve. This is indeed a very heartwarming sign to see, we look forward to welcoming the batch of 2012 scholars to the co-operative family.
Co-operatives are professionally run and sustainable business entities that serve more than 1 million members in Singapore. Their important role in Singapore’s social and economic structure willl be receiving more public attention and acclaim during the UN International Year of the Cooperatives in 2012.
